WVDEP, WVU sponsoring environmental permitting and compliance seminar

 

A seminar designed to help West Virginia businesses and organizations better understand state and federal environmental regulations and the consequences of non-compliance is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on May 21, in Barboursville. The Holiday Inn, located at 3551 Route 60, will host the seminar.

The six-hour seminar is being conducted in coordination with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the West Virginia University Industrial Extension. It will be led by Dr. Terry Polen, ombudsman for the WVDEP. Polen will cover the following topics: The Clean Water Act; permitting processes; National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permit requirements; and developing Stormwater Pollution Prevention and Groundwater Protection plans.
